SEND Experience & Provision

A welcoming setting for every child

At Little Jesters, we believe that every child is wonderfully unique, and deserves to feel safe, valued, understood and truly included. We want every child to be able to learn, grow and thrive!

We are proud to be an inclusive preschool with a dedicated team who have a wealth of knowledge and experience in supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We understand that choosing the right preschool for your child can feel like a big decision, and we want every family to feel listened to, welcomed and confident that their child is in caring and capable hands.

We are proud to offer small group sizes, allowing us to create a calm, nurturing and truly family-like environment where every child is known, valued and celebrated. We understand that for children with SEND, smaller groups can be particularly beneficial, providing more opportunities for individual attention, stronger relationships with familiar adults and a learning environment that can be adapted to each child’s unique needs. Our small setting enables us to really get to know every child — their personality, their interests, how they communicate and what helps them to feel safe and confident. We are committed to creating an environment where children can be themselves, develop at their own pace and have the right support and encouragement to flourish.

We use a variety of communication tools, including now and next boards, visual timetables, visual aids and Makaton. We also have a calm area with a blackout tent; and a sensory area which we encourage children to use for sensory circuits, sensory input and lots of fun!

We work closely with parents and carers, valuing the knowledge you have of your child and seeing you as an important part of the team. Where needed, we also work alongside other professionals to ensure that your child receives the right support at the right time. We have experience in Education and Health Care Plans (EHCPs) and have a good working relationship with the Early Years Specialist Teachers.

We have a fantastic relationship with Faldingworth Primary School, whom our setting is based inside. Being based within the primary school gives us a wonderful opportunity to build strong relationships and make the transition to school feel as natural and familiar as possible. We work closely with the school team, sharing knowledge, information and strategies so that every child’s individual needs are understood and supported. For our children with SEND, this close partnership can be especially valuable, as it allows us to carefully plan their transition, build familiarity at their own pace and help them feel safe and confident as they take their next step. The school also offers small class sizes, and mixed year groups, which is perfect for the children as they will already be familiar with the children in their class. We join in with some of the school’s special events, such as Sports Day, and we take the children into the school hall each day to have lunch with the school children. These things all really help to ease the transition process. Our strong relationship with Faldingworth Primary  means children and their families can feel reassured that they are supported throughout the whole journey. It truly is a wonderful school with brilliant teachers and wonderful children.

Most importantly, we want every child who comes through our doors to know that they belong. Their differences are celebrated, their voices are heard, and their potential is always seen.
